During the day, the solar air conditioner is primarily powered by solar panels and relies on the grid only during very cloudy weather. At night, the system can use grid power which allows for 24 hour operation.

Cool an area in your home or office for pennies a day using 90% or more energy directly from the sun. Also the ACDC12C heat pump can provide heating all the way down to 5*F so those living in northern climates can also benefit from solar heating.

This hybrid solar air conditioner needs no batteries and can be powered by just two or three PV panels making it a very economical and efficient system. During the day when cooling needs are the greatest, the solar air conditioner runs primarily from the solar panels and at night, you can still benefit from the very efficient SEER 21 rating using very little energy from the grid.  The mini-split air conditioner design allows you to put solar cooling into the area where it's needed the most and avoid the security issues of an unsightly and noisy window unit. Installation
The ACDC12C is installed just like a normal mini-split air conditioner, you then connect the solar panels using standard MC4 solar connectors. You can use up to three high voltage solar panels of 230 to 300 watts for a total of up to 900 watts. Panels need to be 30vdc or higher voltage and not the lower voltage panels for charging batteries. The ACDC12C uses R410a refrigerant so it is legal for the homeowner to self install however we recommend hiring an HVAC pro as you will need a vacuum pump to commission the solar powered air conditioner.
